Joining WaggyWalk team as a dog walker or pet sitter

Steps to become a dog walker/pet sitter: 

  1. On our website, select Become a dog walker/pet sitter
  2. Select the service(s) you can provide, then click Save & Continue

Services selected

  • You need to select at least one service, with the option to add more later
  • For multiple services offered, only one will be shown during your registration
  • Changes and adjustments are possible after completing your profile which will be reviewed
  • Advice in selecting services:

Boarding  – Overnight pet care at your place    $XX per night, on average

Pet sitting – Overnight care at pet owner’s residence   $XX per night, on average

Visits – Drop-in to play with the client’s pet, potty breaks     $XX per visit

Day care – Looking after the client’s pet at your place during the day    $XX per day, on average

Dog walking – At agreed time and duration

Testimonials are essential for clients’ confidence in you, so please submit references from pet owners who can provide confirm your earlier work.

All service providers are expected to pass a quiz that will prove you have a solid understanding of safe and reliable pet care.

Background Check

A background check is required, which will be included in your WaggyWalk account.

 

  1. Please submit your application after filling each section and we will review your profile.

You can cancel your services at any time by selecting ”I no longer want to provide WaggyWalk service” at the bottom of the page.

Further steps
  • We will inform you by email about possible approval. We may also offer advice on adjusting your profile.

  • The usual time for our response is XX to XX business days.

FAQ
  • WaggyWalk offers services connecting pet owners with care providers for dogs and cats.  If you would like to join our team of pet sitters and walkers, here are basic requirements:

    • All WaggyWalk dog walkers and sitters must be at least 18 years old

    • Care providers are independent contractors, not WaggyWalk employees.

The service fees enable us to maintain high standards, provide round-the-clock support to customers, to expand our network with unrivaled safety for everyone involved.

Owners

Fees for owners are limited to $XX per booking. Depending on cancellation policy, the fees may be refunded in case the booking is canceled either by the sitter or the owner.  Changing and/or rescheduling the booking may require fee adjustment. 

FAQ

Are these fees industry standard?

Yes. The fees provide the basis for enhancing our services and for timely upgrades, such as:

    • Adding new features to WaggyWalk website and mobile phone apps.
    • Maintaining 24/7 support to customers, sitters and walkers.  
    • Offering tutorials and related educational material for sitters.

Where can I see my earnings?

WaggyWalk and 1099

WaggyWalk is not authorized to give tax advice and/or guidance regarding unemployment, income reporting.

WaggyWalk will send to you a 1099 tax form, if you have withdrawn $600 or more via check in the course of one calendar year. WaggyWalk will send the form to you by January 31, and a copy of your 1099 will be dispatched by email through tax1099.com by January 31.

For any payments received via PayPal, you won’t receive tax documentation from us. PayPal is responsible for handling your tax papers, as per its own tax reporting rules and procedures.

Requirements to receive a 1099 from WaggyWalk

You remain obliged to report and pay taxes regardless of level of income received through our platform – even if your payments through WaggyWalk do not reach/exceed $600 in a calendar year.  Please seek advice from tax experts to make sure you are familiar with all relevant requirements.

Your WaggyWalk account includes data on your earnings and withdrawals. To see them, follow these instructions:

  1. Select Dashboard in the upper right (??? ) corner of your screen.
  2. Under ………………….., select Payments

You can always modify your preferences, including the number of dog you can look after at a given time.

In order to match successfully walkers/sitters and our clients’ pets, here’s the list of preferences you can set on your account:

Availability

It’s essential to let our community know when you are available. WaggyWalk allows you to set your calendar, with details of services offered. 

Sync option:  You can select option to sync with Google calendar (or iCall)

  1. Go to More
  2. Select Calendar
  3. Pick the date you want to update
  4. Save changes

  1. Select menu in the upper left corner
  2. Select Availability calendar.
  3. Select date range to define your availability, use the pencil icon in the upper right corner.
  4. Select dates when you are not available; mark services offered
  5. Save
Desktop/Laptop
  1. Log into your WaggyWalk account, then select Calendar (dropdown menu)
  2. Edit the days when you are available. For multiple dates, you can click and drag mouse to select a range.

For extended periods when you are not available, there’s also the ‘Away’ option, for one or more services.

We offer the possibility of specifying services on certain days, which you can manage on your calendar. Please log in first, then select calendar.  You can do this by marking the boxes for services on the days when you are available.   For example:

Removing and/or modifying services

We have made it easy for you to remove, add or temporarily suspend services offered on your profile. Whenever you need to take a break, you can switch to the Away mode and notify our community when you are back.

Specifying services
  1. Log into your account and select the service management page.
  2. Select the services you want to modify, set them to ‘on’ or ‘off’ according to your preferences. Only the services highlighted in green will indicate that they are active. Tap the toggle to gray to indicate that the service is not active.
  3. Use the Away button to indicate which services are not available.
  4. Save the changes
Suspending or removing all services

You can always opt out of pet care and/or become a client.  Just deactivate your services, while your WaggyWalk account remains active for possible use later.   Reactivating your services would require contacting us to re-introduce you to our roster of walkers/sitters.

Removing services:
  1. Switch all services to gray color. A pop-up window will appear asking you to confirm the change(s).
  2. Confirm by clicking ‘Yes’ and your services will be deactivated
How to confirm service suspension/deactivation

If you wish to permanently  opt out of house sitting or dog boarding, please confirm by clicking   ‘…..’ whereby your agree to:

  • WaggyWalk contacting pet owners to inform them that you are no longer a service provider
  • You shall not communicate with clients through WaggyWalk
  • You will no longer make any bookings with clients introduced through WaggyWalk

If you merely want to take a break or narrow the scope of clients to those that you are already familiar with, please adjust your status to ‘Away’ or ‘Repeat Only’ in your calendar.
